Fire left its scar on this hillside alongside SR97
overlooking Mt. Shasta Vista Subdivision. The February 26 fire burned some 3000
acres, one home, several outbuildings and several vehicles. Subdivision
residents were evacuated as more than 200 firefighters worked at risk to their
own lives in 60 MPH winds to stop a "prescribed burn" fire that was
raging out of control. No one was injured.
